Materia, otherwise known as Jan Warnstam is a musical juggernaut. Originally from Sweden, he is now a Bristol resident, as many of you will know. He's a busy lad, with a load of releases for various labels under his belt, ranging from Drum and Bass in the earlier days, through to more House and Techno influenced beats, and now the inevitable 'Bass' flavour that permeates this city. Always solid, always infectious, always good. What we already knew is now confirmed beyond any doubt by one of the greatest dance music icons of all time - Carl Cox include a Materia track in his mix album 'Revolutions at Space'! As a DJ he has been playing his records and making the kids dance all over most of the known world. Jan has been heavily involved in the club scene for decades, with various tours of Europe and a spell in the USA under his belt, spinning Drum and Bass, Deep House, Techno, Tech House, well, all that stuff. After playing as long as this, he's covered a lot of styles. Jan was part of the Conscious Collective who put on Drum and Bass club nights in Stockholm, and had a weekly radio show.

Jan is now part of Bristol's Lost crew, promoting the legendary Lost nights at Timbuk2. A standout night in the Bristol club scene.

Materia's first release on Drawn is a double A-side single of broken beat bass heavy shuffling beast of a single called 'Razorball/Underfall' - out everywhere on September 12th.
